CHILD SAFETY

COMBATIVES / CHILD SAFETY

Child protection begins with attentive adults.

Children depend on adults to recognize many risks they are not yet able to understand on their own.

Abuse, coercion, neglect, exploitation, grooming, physical violence and dangerous approaches may involve strangers, but they may also involve people the child knows, people close to them or individuals in positions of trust.

Protection begins with age-appropriate information, open communication and adults prepared to notice changes, listen and act.

PREVENTION

Children can learn. Responsibility remains with adults.

A child can learn simple actions to seek help, leave an uncomfortable situation and tell someone what happened. A child should not carry the responsibility of identifying or stopping abuse alone.

Speak The child needs to know they can tell someone when something causes fear, discomfort or confusion.
Move away When possible, create distance and move toward a safe place or trusted person.
Seek help Know which adults can help at home, at school and in other environments.
Tell again If one adult does not listen or understand, tell another trusted person.

RISK SITUATIONS

Danger does not always look dangerous.

Abuse and coercion

Inappropriate physical or sexual contact, threats, pressure, manipulation, misuse of authority or requests to hide situations that cause fear or discomfort.

Violence and neglect

Assault, humiliation, failure to provide necessary care and repeated exposure to situations that place a child's physical or emotional safety at risk.

Digital environment

Grooming, requests for images, sexual exposure, blackmail, secrecy and contacts that move to other platforms or in-person meetings.

Approach and disappearance

Attempts to remove a child from a safe location, deception, unauthorized movement and other situations related to missing children.

Exploitation

Sexual or economic exploitation, human trafficking and other forms of taking advantage of the vulnerability of children and adolescents.

Peer violence

Assault, intimidation, coercion, sexual exposure, threats or other situations involving children and adolescents of a similar age or social group.

REPORTING & HELP

Suspicion deserves attention.

In immediate danger, contact emergency services. Suspected abuse, exploitation, violence or illegal content involving children should be reported through official channels.

EDUCATION

Every adult has a role in protection.

Children

Learn, in an age-appropriate way, how to seek help, set boundaries, leave uncomfortable situations and tell someone what happened.

Parents and caregivers

Observe behavioral changes, understand the child's physical and digital environments, maintain open communication and know where to seek help.

Schools and institutions

Establish clear procedures for prevention, listening, documentation, referral and response when child-safety concerns arise.

COMBATIVES CHILD SAFETY

Information for those responsible for protecting children.

Research, talks and educational content on child protection, violence, abuse, grooming, digital risks, missing children, exploitation, behavior and support resources.

Content can be adapted for families, schools, educational institutions and organizations that work with or have contact with children and adolescents.

For children, language must be appropriate to age and development. For adults, the work can examine warning signs, context, prevention, responsibility and appropriate referral in greater depth.

COMBATIVES CHILD SAFETY is an educational and prevention initiative. Specific situations involving violence, abuse, exploitation or risk should be referred to the appropriate authorities and professional services.
